Social Isolation: Day 13
In a funny way
I’ve never been more social.
People call all day or text or send
short videos.
That’s how I know
to give my produce
bubble baths, and why I know
to leave my mail to languish
on the porch.
That’s how I learn
New Yorkers are not welcome
everywhere.
Today I watch a doctor
(hollow-eyed, they all are)
explain 19 is just a virus
that our body doesn’t know.
Our bodies, though, adapt to change
and, somehow, I think New Yorkers
will get by.
