Social Isolation: Day 39

What a difference sun makes.
I love my body today,
the way it stretches and bends
and moves through space.
I love the woman at the post office,
her mask and friendly voice.
I almost tell her that I love her
but thank her instead for what she does.
The cashier at Trader Joe’s looks startled,
too, when I thank him for being there.

Delirious with sun
and going places
for the first time in a month,
gloved, hatted, masked, of course,
and doused in sanitizer
(do not take internally!),
“Magalenha” blasting in the car,
so lucky to have a body.
And the sun!
