Excalibur

Excalibur

Out of the water
            into the air
I lift a thought,
            my own
and not a gift
            for a would-be king.
It’s that time of life.

Clouds thin and part
            and the mind clears
a path for itself
            through the formless
atmosphere of the world’s opinions.
   One thought             one-pointed,
        no longer any doubt.
            En garde.
