The Year of Magical Thinking
A Just Buffalo Literary Center Adult Workshop
Join Sherry Robbins for a 3-session exploration of Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking. Each session will focus on Didion’s style, and themes which include style as a container, loss in all its meanings, and how, when, and why we all resort to magical thinking. Lively discussion is welcome. A writing prompt will be given before each session for those who like to respond creatively. Time will be allotted for sharing that work at the end of the following session.
This workshop runs concurrent with the Irish Classical Theatre Company’s staging of Didion’s one-woman play of The Year of Magical Thinking. The director, Kyle LoConti, and the actor, Victoria Pérez, will each join us for one session.
